They arrive to Eli Mathews office, and he goes in, and signs in on this clip board on a desk. The lady said that it will be a min. before he will be out of the meeting. well they are sitting there chatting, looking around and Eli comes out of the room, and takes this clip board off the desk. He looks at it and it says Sal. He looks up and look right at him, and says come on in. He goes in and he sits down. They are chatting for a bit and Terry is walking back and forth stressing.
--Well Sal gives him the folder. Eli takes a look at it and smiles.
He says "I really love the effort that you have put into this. I know that this means alot to you!
I really love how you opened up and put this whole topic on your life. You documented on you. Only you. Your-self." I love that.

CHAPTER 24
Sal and Terry have been together for fifteen days so far, Sal really likes Terry being his "girl". They only have 20 dollars left so they are sleeping in a junk-yard in a broken down car. So they decide to work as grape pickers in a field. They dont get much money but they are getting some. They have been working there for about 2 weeks and they have made enough money for a bus to San Fran and Back to L.A. They finally go to drop off his story to Eli Mathews!.
CHAPTER 19
They are in the hotel & she is laying on the bed, talking to him like she really likes this guy. She seems really nice and Sals type. He really thinks she can be a good friend. Sal really has a hard time to let people in his ( trust bubble). He let Marylou in and she popped it.... He doesnt want that to happen again. He starts telling her all about him and marylou. She says to him that she likes how they can open up, and talk about personal information. They go out to dinner that night and then go out dancing. They start to drink, and she starts telling Sal about her being a hooker the passed couple of months to get money to leave the state. He reacted a lil weird but he doesnt want ot lose her just over the past. He just wants to move on and have a bestfriend.
CHAPTER 17
On his way to San Fran, and sal stops in this town called Bakersfield, CA. Unable to get hitch-hikes, so he takes the city bus to L.A. Sal is just sitting there all alone staring at this folder with his story in it. The bus stops and this little mexican girl who sits across from him. They both are sitting there all lonley, so he decides to go join her. They start telling each-other their stories. Sal, decides that he is going to ask her to join him in San Francisco. She says "of course why not."

CHAPTER 10
In San Francisco, there is this puplisher & Editor Eli Mathews. Eli has previous viewed his other books. He also, has rejected them...

Sal, has finished his book! He has named it "Fast, and Freedom". He only explains this story as "It's, It's just a wonderful exsperience."

Chapter 6 & 7
Sal, Alone once again, Eddie left him at the Carnival. Sal, Hitch-hiked to Montana to see an old friend of his. Once Sal and his friend have talked for a while, and has a couple of beers at this old bar called Rusty's Jaks, His friend(they dont meniton any names) asks Sal if he would like to stay at his place for a while. Sal, no where to go says sure why not.
It has been 2 weeks since he has been in Montana, and he has got alot of writing accomplished.

They arrive in Nebraska, where the carnival is. Sal describes this place as am "old rotten, and beaten down carnival". Eddie only lasted about 3 days and took off, and went home. Chapters 4
Sal, All alone again. In the big City of New York.
He takes a bus to Illinois. He does'nt know where he is going at this point, but he knows he is going to follow his heart. On his way to Illinois, he meets " A young Rednose drunk" named Eddie.
They decide to hitch-hike to Nebraska. While they were riding, some guy asked them if the needed a job.
They both answered yes. Well this guy Jamenson, is from Nebraska. He is a Carnival owner. They are just opening up for the season.

Sal begins to start knowing that Marylou is acting a lil strange.
She isn't coming home until after midnight, and she is not showing any affection to Dean in Public nor at home. Sal went to the super market one morning and this lil old man asked Dean if him and Marylou got a divorce.
Right after, Sal called in a family meeting. That's what he calls a urgent conversation. He finally asked Marylou what the heck is going on.
Marylou told him everything. She is cheating on him, and she is leaving him for another man. Sal threatens Marylou that she will lose everything, but it turns out the other way. She took the house and threw all his paper work out on the front porch in a paper bag.

The book basically starts out with this guy named Sal Dean Moriarty, who just moved to New York. He just got out from a reform school, and also, just got married to a girl named Marylou. They move to New York because Sal wants to be a writer. Marylou moved with him only because she was going to not have to work because Sal is going to be a "hit" and make alot of money.
During the first two chapters of the book, i feel like that Marylou is just going to use him in New York because of Sals money that he is going to get from the "hits" of the books that he has wrote and sent in. She has this big feeling that he is going to get the New York best seller of the year.
